Martin Simonian, member of the local Armenian community was a elected Councilor of the City of Cordoba, Argentina, on July 23. Daniel Passerini, who is currently the Vice Mayor of Cordoba and a strong supporter of the Armenian Cause, was elected Mayor.

“The Armenian community mobilized behind a leader who actively works for the interests of the Armenian people,” said Simonian.

In addition, the national Deputy Soher el Sukaria, who was running for Vice Mayor of Cordoba, lost against Passerini after being strongly rejected by the Armenian community in Argentina for her ties to the authoritarian regime of Azerbaijan.

Simonian, a lawyer by profession, is a leader in the local Armenian community and one of the members of Antranik Club. He was member of the Armenian Youth Federation, the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARFD) and he also collaborates with the activities of the local branches of Homenetmen and the Armenian Relief Society -HOM.
